3 1/4 x 4 3/16 in. tintype plate featuring 4 uncut ninth plate portraits of an African American man (spotting and surface wear to plate, significant rusting/flaking to edges, with a few holes rusted into right edge). This uncut plate is a rare surviving piece of evidence of the process of making multiple exposures on a single sheet and then cutting them into individual images.
